At SofaBedMattress.com, we build mattresses specifically for the unusual demands of sleeper sofas. We stand behind the quality of our materials and workmanship with this Limited Lifetime Warranty.
This warranty lasts for as long as the original purchaser owns the mattress, subject to the terms, conditions, limitations, and exclusions described below.
1. Who Provides This Warranty
This Limited Lifetime Warranty is provided by: SofaBedMattress.com
In this warranty, “SofaBedMattress.com,” “we,” “us,” and “our” refer to the warrantor identified above.
2. Products Covered
This Limited Lifetime Warranty applies to new sofa bed mattresses purchased directly from SofaBedMattress.com on or after the Effective Date shown above.
For purposes of this warranty, an eligible sofa bed mattress is referred to as the “Mattress.”
Unless otherwise stated, this warranty applies to each available comfort construction offered as part of the Mattress, including foam, memory foam, and latex configurations.
Custom-size mattresses are [covered by this Limited Lifetime Warranty on the same terms as standard-size mattresses]. Custom-size mattresses may be excluded from the separate 365-Night Comfort Trial, but that does not affect warranty coverage for qualifying manufacturing defects.
3. Who This Warranty Covers
This Limited Lifetime Warranty applies only to the original purchaser of the Mattress.
The “Original Purchaser” is the person who originally purchased the Mattress directly from SofaBedMattress.com for personal, family, or household use.
The warranty begins on the original date of purchase and remains in effect for as long as the Original Purchaser owns the Mattress. The warranty is not transferable to another person.
Please retain your order confirmation, receipt, or other proof of purchase.
4. How Long Coverage Lasts
Years 1–10: Full Defect Coverage
For the first ten years after the original purchase date, SofaBedMattress.com warrants the Mattress against covered defects in materials and workmanship.
If we determine that a covered defect exists, we will, at our discretion, repair or replace the defective Mattress at no charge to the Original Purchaser, subject to the terms of this warranty.
If the original Mattress is no longer available, we may replace it with the most comparable product then available.
Years 11–15: Prorated Lifetime Coverage
Beginning in Year 11 and continuing through the end of Year 15, an approved warranty claim qualifies the Original Purchaser to purchase a replacement Mattress for 50% of the then-current retail price of the same Mattress, or the closest comparable Mattress if the original product is no longer available.
Years 16–20: Prorated Lifetime Coverage
During Years 16 through 20, an approved warranty claim qualifies the Original Purchaser to purchase a replacement Mattress for 60% of the then-current retail price of the same or closest comparable Mattress.
Year 21 and Beyond: Prorated Lifetime Coverage
Beginning in Year 21 and continuing for as long as the Original Purchaser owns the Mattress, an approved warranty claim qualifies the Original Purchaser to purchase a replacement Mattress for 75% of the then-current retail price of the same or closest comparable Mattress.
Any replacement Mattress provided or purchased under this warranty remains subject to the warranty period that began on the original purchase date. Receiving a replacement Mattress does not restart or extend the warranty period.
5. What This Warranty Covers
Permanent Sagging or Indentations. This warranty covers a visible and permanent indentation or sag measuring greater than 1.5 inches, provided that the indentation is not caused by an improper, damaged, or unsupportive sofa-bed mechanism; bent, broken, missing, or improperly functioning support components; misuse; improper storage; or another condition excluded by this warranty.
The Mattress must be measured without weight or pressure being applied to the affected area.
Foam or Latex Deterioration. This warranty covers a physical defect that causes the foam or latex components of the Mattress to split, crack, or deteriorate abnormally despite normal use and proper handling.
Normal softening or gradual changes in feel are not considered defects unless accompanied by a covered physical failure.
Manufacturing or Assembly Defects. This warranty covers manufacturing defects in the construction or assembly of the Mattress, including qualifying defects in seams, stitching, the mattress cover, the zipper when applicable, or the assembly of internal mattress components.
Cosmetic irregularities that do not affect the function, durability, or intended use of the Mattress are not considered covered defects.
6. What This Warranty Does Not Cover
Normal changes in comfort or feel. Foam, memory foam, and latex naturally soften and change somewhat with use. Normal softening, settling, or changes in comfort preference are not manufacturing defects.
Personal comfort preferences. A preference for a softer, firmer, more contouring, or more responsive mattress is not covered by this warranty. Comfort concerns may qualify under the separate 365-Night Comfort Trial when all trial requirements are met.
Indentations of 1.5 inches or less. Normal body impressions, compression, or indentations measuring 1.5 inches or less are not covered.
Damage caused by the sofa-bed mechanism or support system. Damage resulting from an improper, damaged, broken, bent, or unsupportive sleeper-sofa mechanism, frame, deck, support bar, or other underlying structure is not covered.
Normal wear and tear. This warranty does not cover ordinary wear associated with the normal use and aging of a mattress.
Accidental or intentional damage. This includes cuts, tears, punctures, burns, stains, liquid damage, mold or mildew caused by environmental conditions or moisture, damage caused by pets, damage caused during moving or storage, and other physical abuse or misuse.
Improper use or handling. Damage caused by using, folding, storing, cleaning, or handling the Mattress in a manner inconsistent with its intended use is not covered.
Incorrectly ordered dimensions. A Mattress manufactured according to the dimensions specified in the order is not defective simply because those dimensions do not fit the purchaser’s sofa-bed mechanism. Customers are responsible for confirming the correct dimensions before ordering, particularly for custom-size mattresses.
Changes in materials or appearance. Minor variations in color, texture, fabric appearance, foam appearance, or other cosmetic characteristics that do not affect the Mattress’s performance are not covered.
Products purchased used or from unauthorized sources. This warranty does not cover mattresses purchased used, secondhand, previously owned, as a comfort return, from an unauthorized reseller, or from any source other than SofaBedMattress.com or an authorized seller designated by SofaBedMattress.com.
7. Proper Use and Support
The Mattress must be used with a sofa-bed mechanism that is structurally sound, properly functioning, appropriately sized for the Mattress, and capable of adequately supporting the Mattress and its sleepers.
A damaged, improperly assembled, or inadequately supportive sofa-bed mechanism can cause damage that is not attributable to a manufacturing defect in the Mattress.
The Mattress should be used only for its intended purpose and in accordance with any care or use instructions provided by SofaBedMattress.com.
8. How to Make a Warranty Claim
To begin a warranty claim, contact us.
Please provide your name and contact information, your original order number or other proof of purchase, a description of the problem, clear photographs showing the claimed defect, and any measurements necessary to document the issue.
We may also request photographs of the sofa-bed mechanism and support surface.
For an indentation or sagging claim, we may ask you to photograph the Mattress with a straightedge placed across the affected area and provide a measurement showing the depth of the indentation without weight on the Mattress.
We may request additional photographs or information reasonably necessary to evaluate the claim.
9. Inspection and Verification
SofaBedMattress.com reserves the right to inspect or otherwise reasonably verify a claimed defect before approving warranty service.
Depending on the circumstances, we may require additional photographs or video, measurements, inspection of the Mattress, inspection of the sofa-bed mechanism or support system, or return of the Mattress or affected component.
A claim is not approved until SofaBedMattress.com has determined that the condition qualifies as a covered defect under this Limited Lifetime Warranty.
We will not require the use of a particular third-party repair service or other branded product as a condition of warranty coverage. However, damage caused by improper repairs, alterations, accessories, or other products is not covered.
10. Warranty Remedies
For an approved claim during Years 1–10, SofaBedMattress.com may, at its discretion, repair the covered defect, replace the defective Mattress or affected component, or provide another remedy required by applicable law.
If the original Mattress, comfort material, fabric, or other component has been discontinued or is no longer available, we may substitute a product or component of reasonably comparable construction, function, and value.
An exact match in color, fabric, materials, appearance, or construction is not guaranteed.
For approved claims beginning in Year 11, replacement is available according to the prorated schedule described in Section 4.
11. Replacement Mattresses
Any Mattress replaced under this warranty remains subject to the warranty period that began on the original purchase date.
The warranty period does not restart when a replacement is provided.
If the original product is discontinued, SofaBedMattress.com will determine the closest reasonably comparable replacement product.
A change in product name, construction, available materials, or comfort options does not require SofaBedMattress.com to reproduce a discontinued Mattress exactly.
12. Shipping and Other Costs Associated With Warranty Claims
Years 1–10
For an approved warranty claim during the first 10 years, [insert your chosen shipping policy here—for example: “SofaBedMattress.com will cover standard shipping costs associated with an approved replacement within the contiguous United States.”]
Additional shipping charges may apply to locations outside the contiguous United States.
Year 11 and Beyond
Beginning in Year 11, the Original Purchaser is responsible for the applicable prorated replacement price and [insert your chosen policy regarding shipping and delivery costs].
No fees or replacement charges will be assessed until the claim has been reviewed and the customer has been informed of the available warranty remedy.
13. Mattress Condition and Safe Handling
SofaBedMattress.com may decline to physically receive or inspect a Mattress when its condition creates a legitimate health or safety concern, including significant contamination, infestation, or exposure to hazardous materials.
When physical return of the Mattress is not reasonably possible for health or safety reasons, we may request photographs, documentation, or another reasonable form of verification instead.
The existence of a stain or cosmetic condition does not, by itself, eliminate warranty coverage for an unrelated covered defect unless the condition caused or contributed to the claimed defect or prevents reasonable evaluation of the claim.
14. Relationship to the 365-Night Comfort Trial
The 365-Night Comfort Trial and this Limited Lifetime Warranty are separate programs.
The Comfort Trial addresses eligible comfort preferences and returns during the applicable trial period. This Limited Lifetime Warranty addresses qualifying defects in materials and workmanship.
Expiration of, or ineligibility for, the Comfort Trial does not eliminate otherwise valid warranty coverage.
Custom-size mattresses do not qualify for the 365-Night Comfort Trial and are final sale. However, they remain covered by this Limited Lifetime Warranty against qualifying defects in materials and workmanship.
15. Limitations
This Limited Lifetime Warranty provides remedies for covered defects in the Mattress itself.
To the extent permitted by applicable law, SofaBedMattress.com is not responsible under this warranty for incidental or consequential losses resulting from a covered Mattress defect.
Some states or jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion or limitation of incidental or consequential damages, so this limitation may not apply to you.
Nothing in this warranty excludes or limits rights that cannot legally be excluded or limited.
16. Your Legal Rights
This Limited Lifetime Warranty gives you specific legal rights.
You may also have other rights that vary from state to state or jurisdiction to jurisdiction.
